Extremely large Vienna Bronze Peacock Incense Burner  1880.  Original polychrome paint over most surfaces, typical Vienna work.   Huge size and impressive posture of peacock give intensity to the bird.  Cast in bronze the body with tail-section bolted onto,( modern bolts),  Lidded container in the back for incense, feet bolted into an earthen mound. ( Underside bolts original)  Size 18" by 15" base, 34" tall.   A fabulous example of this unique Austrian artform of exotic animals.
